Dmitry Bakatin, Managing Director of the Sputnik Group

Co-founder of the Sputnik Group, Dmitry Bakatin leads the consulting arm of the company, which has advised Russia's largest industrial-financial groups on mergers and acquisitions as well as on corporate disputes resolution.

Mr. Bakatin is member of the board of JSC "Sibur Holding", OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group), Renaissance Insurance Group, and Renaissance Life Company. Previously he has served on boards of such public and private Russian companies as Novolipetsk Iron & Steel Corporation, Rosneft-Purneftegaz, Novorossiysk Shipping Company, Europe Plus radio station and others.

During the Sputnik Group's tenure at Gazprom-Media, Dmitry Bakatin as First Deputy General Director participated in the media group restructuring. Prior to joining the Sputnik Group, he was a managing director of Renaissance Capital, and Deputy Chairman of the Board of MFK Renaissance.

Mr. Bakatin has a background in corporate law and worked as a senior lawyer at Washington-based law firm "Steptoe & Johnson" in 1991-1995. He also served as an adjunct professor of law at Moscow State University. Mr. Bakatin holds Candidate degree in law and Doctorate degree in economics. He is the author of numerous monographs and scientific papers in the area of constitutional, investment law and state property management.

Mr. Bakatin has been a member of Russian-American Business Council executive committee since 2001 and Vice-president of Alexey Jordan Cadet Corps Fund since 2004. His achievements have received high public recognition proved by government and state awards including "Person of the year" (2003) nomination along with Russian Orthodox Church awards.
